Self-Destructing Cookies for Firefox identifies and dispenses with all of the tracking cookies that websites put on your browser as soon as you leave the sites that post them. While those most concerned about their privacy might not like to allow any cookies at all, going to that extreme would make it difficult if not impossible to use many sites. With this program, sites will be able to track you while you are using them and you can still use the sites normally. Once you leave the site, though, the tracking cookies will be destroyed and the site that you left will no longer be able to see your activity. You can, however, create a whitelist of sites whose cookies you do not want destroyed.
SDC comes with pop-up notifications that keep you up to speed on the extension’s activity, but you can disable them by unchecking the Notifications box in the Preferences section. Be sure that you also adjust any other programs that may re-add cookies so that they no longer do so. All you need to do is disable them. Should you find that your whitelisted sites are still unable to store cookies, make sure that their homepages appear on your whitelist rather than just any pages on the sites.
