Maya is created by Autodesk who also developed the ads Max and the AutoCAD software. Maya is a 3D graphics program that is similar in style and purpose to the Poser and 3ds Max programs, but with a slightly different purpose and way more design potential and variety. Maya can create effective and appealing 3D animations and models and representations. It can run on a number of different Operating Systems, including Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac and Linux. Maya was first created and released by Alias Systems Corporation, before converting to Autodesk.

Maya can be used to create a number of interactive animations which can be used in anything from simple videos and advertisements, to complex video games and films. Maya has been used on a number of blockbusters, including Finding Nemo, Up, Monsters Inc and Hugo, and it has also been used on TV shows such as The Walking Dead.
